How it works
Three steps to a fresh bird on your table

Turkeys are raised in small numbers and every one is spoken for before harvest. Reserving is how you hold yours.

Step one

Reserve

Place your reservation with a $50 deposit and tell us what size bird you are hoping for. Your deposit holds your turkey.

Step two

We weigh your bird

Your turkey is harvested fresh the week of Thanksgiving. Once it is weighed we send you the final amount, with your deposit already taken off.

Step three

Pick up at the farm

Come to the farm on your pickup day and take your bird home fresh. Never frozen, never trucked in.

Reserve your turkey

$50

deposit per bird

Your deposit holds one whole turkey for Thanksgiving and comes straight off the final price. Tell us the size you are hoping for when you check out.

Turkeys are farm pickup only.

How the price works

Every bird is a different size

Turkeys grow the way they grow. Ours average around 16 lbs, so your bird is priced on what it actually weighs.

$12.99 per pound

A 16 lb bird comes to about $208. Your $50 deposit comes off that, leaving roughly $158 at pickup.

You will know before you arrive

Once your turkey is weighed we send you the exact balance, so there are no surprises on pickup day.

Why it tastes different
Why does our pastured turkey taste so much better and different than other turkey?

Five reasons, and every one of them costs us time.

Ours grow slowly

It takes us nearly half a year to raise each bird on lush green pastures. That slow growth creates flavor that typically isn't found in turkey. Nearly every other farm, including pasture based farms, raises ultra fast growing birds.

We never feed corn or soy

Nearly every other farm, organic or conventional, feeds a steady diet of corn and soy. It's cheap and puts weight on incredibly fast. Corn heavy diets contribute excessive levels of linoleic acid to food, and soy is not a natural or healthy source of protein for turkeys.

We keep them calm

We are calm, quiet, and slow around the birds, barely speaking above a whisper and moving gently through the flock. Stress creates hormones that can directly impact the flavor and texture of meat, so we avoid it at all costs.

We hand butcher on the farm

There is no transport induced stress. On processing day we gather them when it's dark out, when they are in a trance like state, and bring them calmly to our zero-waste, mobile processing trailer.

Fresh grass twice a day

Our pastures are 100% zero spray. No herbicides, pesticides, or fungicides, not even organically approved ones. Twice a day the shelter is pulled forward and the turkeys run ahead, eager to forage on the new grass.

Nothing hidden in the feed

Always GMO free, chemical free, hormone free, and vaccine free. Alongside what they forage, we supplement with a certified organic mix of field peas, oats, probiotics, vitamins, minerals, and Redmond Sea Salt.

We think that all of these reasons combine to create the absolute best tasting, most nutrient dense turkey. It requires a lot more time, investment, and work, but the resulting meat is far superior to any other turkey.

Picking up your bird

Turkeys are harvested fresh the week of Thanksgiving and picked up here at the farm. We are not able to ship or deliver them, so plan on coming out to us.

We will confirm your pickup day and time when we send your final balance, so you will know exactly when your bird is ready.

"We ordered our Thanksgiving turkey from Tussock Sedge Farm and hands down it was the best turkey we have ever eaten. Even our more fussy eaters and those that claim they don't like turkey loved it! It was very juicy and tender."

Beam ShineJanuary 2025

"WOW!!!! We could not believe how amazing the turkey was. My husband said the meat was so easy to carve. It was moist, tender, and I never knew turkey could be so delicious, I didn't even use any gravy! Usually we have to force the kids to eat some turkey. This year all 5 of them went back for seconds."

Melannie SmithNovember 2024

"Last year was the first year we got our Thanksgiving turkey from them and it was the best we've ever had - EVER! The entire staff is so nice and friendly, and Sean has always been very accommodating even with littlest of things."
