Truly Pasture Raised Heritage Chicken: Organs

How We Raise Our Chickens

Daily Care, from Brooder to Pasture

Young chicks begin in a protected brooder before moving outdoors. Our team tends each flock with feeding, watering, health checks and calm handling. Frequent pasture moves distribute natural fertility while giving previously grazed ground time to recover.

What Goes into Their Feed

Their balanced ration includes field peas and barley, plus probiotics, vitamins, minerals and Redmond Real Salt. Pasture provides opportunities to forage; supplemental feed supplies essential nutrition as they grow.

A Little Care in the Kitchen

Thaw in the refrigerator and pat the skin dry before roasting for better browning. Use a meat thermometer to check doneness to avoid overcooking. Rest before carving, and avoid cooking lean Breast meat longer than necessary.

Save the Bones for Another Meal

Turn a roasted carcass, Backs and Necks into homemade stock. Cover with water, add vegetables and herbs, and simmer gently. Chicken Feet can add gelatin and body to the finished broth. Strain, cool promptly, and refrigerate or freeze for soups, sauces and future dinners.

A Sunday Roast. A Weeknight Supper. A Pot of Soup.

Good chicken earns its place in all kinds of meals. Start with a favorite cut, try a new recipe, and enjoy gathering around the table.
