✓ Slow-Growing Heritage Breeds

Most meat chickens today are bred to reach processing size extremely quickly. We chose a different path.

Our heritage breed chickens grow much more slowly and are given considerably more time to develop. Chickens sold as Whole Birds are generally raised for around 10 weeks, while birds destined for individual cuts are intentionally grown larger and raised for nearly 3 months.

Giving them that additional time helps produce the rich flavor and natural texture that distinguish our chicken.

✓ Fresh Pasture Twice Every Day

Once they're old enough to leave the protected brooder environment, our chickens spend their growing season outdoors on our lush green pastures.

And they don't stay in the same spot.

Twice every day, we move their specially designed shelters forward onto fresh ground. The chickens eagerly move onto new grass where they can peck, scratch, forage, dust bathe and explore.

They naturally seek out grass, clover, dandelion, bugs, worms and other plants and insects — all of the things chickens instinctively look for when given the opportunity.

✓ Organic Feed Made Without Corn or Soy

What our chickens forage naturally on pasture is supplemented with a specially formulated organic feed made without corn or soy.

Their ration uses ingredients including field peas and oats along with probiotics, vitamins, minerals and Redmond Real Salt.

Poultry require a nutritionally balanced supplemental ration in addition to what they forage on pasture, so we're extremely particular about what goes into ours.

✓ 100% Zero-Spray Pastures

The ground beneath our chickens matters just as much to us as what goes into their feeders.

Our pastures are managed without herbicides, pesticides, fungicides or other chemical sprays — including organically approved sprays.

Instead, the chickens become part of our regenerative farming system. Their daily movement distributes natural fertility across the land while previously grazed areas are given time to rest and recover.

We focus on creating an environment where healthy animals can thrive naturally.

Our chickens are raised without antibiotics, hormones or vaccines. They're given fresh pasture, clean water, quality feed, plenty of space and careful attention throughout their lives.

We're calm, quiet and deliberate whenever we're working around our chickens.

Whether we're feeding, watering, moving shelters or walking through the flock, we try to work with the birds rather than forcing them. Keeping animals comfortable and minimizing unnecessary stress is simply part of good animal husbandry.

Raising chickens this way isn't automated. During the pasture season, our team is with the birds every day — feeding, watering, checking their health and moving them onto fresh grass twice daily.
