Truly Pasture Raised Turkey: Burgers

Pasture Raised • Fresh Grass Twice Daily • Organic Feed Without Corn or Soy

Our turkeys are raised with the same attention to animal health, soil health and food quality that guides everything we do at Tussock Sedge Farm.

After a protected start in the brooder, they head outside to our zero-spray pastures, where they're moved onto fresh grass twice each day. They forage naturally on grasses, clover, insects and other plants while receiving a nutritionally balanced organic supplemental feed made without corn or soy.

How We Raise Our Turkeys
Turkey Raised Differently

There are easier and less expensive ways to raise poultry. We choose to raise ours a different way because we believe how an animal lives, what it eats and how it's handled all matter.

Fresh Pasture Twice Every Day

Once they're old enough to leave the protection of the brooder, our turkeys spend their days outside on pasture. We move them onto fresh grass twice each day, giving them continual access to new forage while spreading their impact across the land.

They do what turkeys naturally do—pecking, scratching and foraging through grasses, clover, insects and whatever else they find.

Organic Feed Without Corn or Soy

Pasture is an important part of their diet, but it doesn't provide everything a growing turkey needs. Alongside what they forage, we provide a nutritionally balanced organic supplemental feed made without corn or soy.

Our feed uses ingredients such as field peas and oats, along with probiotics, vitamins and minerals to support healthy growth.

Avoiding corn and soy is an intentional part of our program. Because a bird's diet influences the fatty-acid composition of its meat, what goes into their feed matters to us beyond simply supporting healthy growth. We choose a different feed approach because we care deeply about what goes into the birds we raise for our own family and yours.

100% Zero-Spray Pastures

What's growing beneath their feet matters too. Our pastures are 100% zero spray—we don't use herbicides, pesticides or fungicides, including sprays approved for organic production.

Instead, we rely on regenerative grazing, animal impact and thoughtful management to build healthier soil and diverse pastures naturally.

Calm Handling From Beginning to End

Good animal husbandry isn't just about feed and pasture. We're calm, quiet and slow around our birds, moving gently through the flock and working to keep stress as low as possible throughout their lives.

When it's time to harvest, our turkeys don't have to endure a stressful trip to a processing facility. They're harvested right here at Tussock Sedge Farm in our mobile processing trailer.

The Difference Is on the Plate

We put considerably more time, labor and care into raising turkey this way. But the result is turkey with real flavor and texture—the kind that reminds you turkey doesn't have to be bland.

Whether you're buying a Turkey Breast for Sunday dinner, Ground Turkey for tacos, a few enormous "Pterodactyl Wings" for the smoker or a whole bird for Thanksgiving, it all begins with the same farming practices.

“It was the first year we deviated from getting our turkey from a ‘factory farm’ and what a difference! We are grateful for the work you do and the thoughtfulness and care you put into it.”
