Wild Caught Alaskan Seafood

Sustainable, wild-caught Alaskan fish! Through many conversations with our community, we've heard about the difficulty in sourcing truly wild caught seafood you can trust. Much of the fish in local stores and markets is of unknown origin and is often mislabeled or misrepresented. We're thrilled to be partnering with Wild For Salmon, a Pennsylvania family who fishes the pristine waters off of Alaska's coast. They travel to Bristol Bay each year for the short, but very busy fishing season, working closely with the local wildlife management to only catch when the fish are at their most sustainable, or peak population levels. The harvest is then processed immediately, vacuum sealed, and flash frozen before being shipped back to Pennsylvania for storage. Did you know that the "Atlantic salmon" you'll typically find in the grocery store or on restaurant menus is from farm raised fish? (you'll never find "Wild" Atlantic Salmon for sale, as that species is essentially extinct.) Farm raised "Atlantic" salmon that now accounts for nearly 70% of the salmon sold worldwide live in overcrowded tanks and are fed a completely unnatural diet including corn and soy pellets, antibiotics and pesticides to kill off diseases and parasites, plus artificial coloring to create a product that vaguely resembles wild fish. (without this fake coloring, farm raised salmon would be nearly beige in color) In contrast, wild Alaskan salmon get their deep red/orange color from swimming in pristine, protected waterways and consuming a species appropriate diet of krill, shrimp, and more. And much like commodity feedlot beef being fed a grain based diet, farmed fish have dangerously high levels of Omega-6 fats, rather than a healthy Omega-3/Omega-6 balance like in wild fish. Just like you choose us for your pasture raised, grass fed meats, your seafood should also come from a trusted source that only harvests in a sustainable manner.
